Approved Options
Anything published on D&D Beyond that is fully compatible with the 2025 ruleset. Firearms are banned and do not exist in our universe.
Play in Good Faith
Don’t build to exploit loopholes or break the system. Everyone is here to contribute, shine, and keep the game fun.
Ability Scores
Start with the Carthanelle Array: 18, 16, 14, 13, 11, 9. You may freely redistribute points downward from any score to any other score. You cannot increase the total points in the array—only move them around.
Class Adjustments
Paladin
- Smites are a free action that can occur immediately after a successful attack and can only occur once per turn.
Warlock
- Hexblade warlocks use the Hexblade abilities and proficiencies from the 2014 rules.
Rule Adjustments
Potions
- You can drink a potion as a bonus action
- If you drink a healing potion as your action, it always heals for the maximum possible amount—no roll required.
Critical Hits
Critical hits should be fun and do more damage than regular hits. When you score a critical hit:
- Base damage die are treated as if they rolled their maximum value (e.g., a d8 becomes an automatic 8)
- Crit die are rolled normally
- Modifiers are added as usual
Examples
Longsword (1d8):
Normal roll: roll 1d8 (8 damage) + modifiers
Normal crit: roll 2d8 (2-16 total damage) + modifiers
Max + Roll crit: 8 + 1d8 (9-16 total damage) + modifiers
Greatsword (2d6):
Normal roll: roll 2d6 (2-12 damage) + modifiers
Normal crit: 4d6 (4-24 total damage) + modifiers
Max + Roll crit: 12 +2d6 (14-24 total damage) + modifiers
